B. ARCH. II SEM. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN – II
Exercise-I: Space Making by the Articulation
of Vertical Members.
Theme: “WHEN THE
ELEMENTS OF FORM CAPTURES SPACE ARCHITECTURE IS BORN”
Design Brief:
1.
12 vertical
members to be articulated to create a meaningful Form & Spatial arrangement
2.
Vertical members’ sections to vary from
250mmx250mm to 250mmx1000mm
3.
Vertical members’ heights to vary from 2000mm to
10000mm
4.
Assume context
(Primary school or Restaurant)
5.
Declare the ambience/spatial
experience/design intentions to be created by using the vertical members.
6.
Create a platform/datum
of single or multi-level
7.
Incorporate elements
of visual arts – Line, colour, texture, light & shade
8.
Apply the grammar
of visual arts in the analysis and
synthesis of architectural space and form:
a.
Principles of Design - Scale, Balance, Rhythm,
Emphasis, Proportion, Movement, Contrast, Unity, Meaning, Metaphor etc.
b.
Ordering Principles - Axis, Symmetry, Hierarchy,
Datum, Repetition and Transformation etc.
Deliverables:
1.
Final sheetA1 size (1 No) will contain the
following:
a.
Plan and views (Sketches and Photographs of
model with light & shade)
b.
Narrative of design decision making process
which includes assumptions, analysis and synthesis – with thumbnail sketches
and minimum write-up.
Submission Dates:
Presentation of Final Butter Sheet+ Scale Model 08.03.13
Note: All
sketches leading to the design development/evolution need to be attached to the
sheet.
