MAJOR EXCERCISE

DESIGN BRIEF:

Given a site with exact Dimensions, Orientation, Slope and Landscape Elements in a Rural / Pan Urban Area. To Design any one of the following Built Structure:
·         Restaurant
·         A Primary School

OBJECTIVE:
  • To expose the students to the grammar of creating architectural space and form.
  • To study individual variables like light, movement, transformation, scale, structure and skin in the formation and evolution of architectural form.
  • To explore the relationship between human feelings and architectural form.

Design layers: All the Parameters covered so far, Scale, resolving form and massing, Circulation, Anthropometry, Case Study pertinent to the topic given/chosen,

OUTLINE: Functional assignment to spaces shall be avoided to restrict the dimensions of investigation. Projects shall be attempted with the help of models and sketches. Space making projects may be tied to the context, but objective shall be to illustrate the variables like colour, material, texture and scale in evoking the necessary conditions for the prescribed activity. Final project shall be formulated as a process of testing the various elements of space making learnt earlier in the semester.
 To achieve an architectural composition to understand the relationship between Requirements and Design Synthesis.
Illustrating the interplay between positive and negative spaces, horizontal and vertical elements and volumes.
